The PPS Operator is responsible for operating Irrigation pumps for the purpose of supplying bulk water to the farms via the Underground Main System (UMS).
Duties and Accountabilities:
- Ensure that all items included in the PPS check list are present and are in good condition
- Ensure that water is supplied to the fields in accordance with the field’s requirements
- Ensure sufficient power supply to run the required number of pumps
- Adhere to the set standards of operating pump pressure
- Perform preventive pump and motor maintenance through greasing and oil application
- Guard the pump station during non-operational periods
- Timeously report all faults, breakdowns and abnormalities to the water Bailiff
- Record pump running hours, pump voltage and pump Amperes
- Adhere to teamwork and section goals accomplishment plans
- Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
Minimum Requirement:
- CSEE (Certificate of Secondary Education) or above
- At least one-year Agricultural working experience
- Knowledge in operating Centrifugal Pumps coupled with Electric Induction Motors.
- Basic report writing
- Record keeping.
Desired Requirements:
- Knowledge in fighting Chemical Fires
Terms of service: The successful candidates will be engaged on a Permanent Contract.
